Water is important to our bodies. It makes up for 60 percent of our body, which means as we use it, we need to replace it.

Many people grab sugary sodas or other sugar-laced drinks when they are thirsty but this could actually be the worst thing to grab. Instead, grab some water.

What many people do not realize is that water can be used as an important healing took for those who are suffering from a history of kidney stones. Water dissolves calcium that is built up in the urine. Therefore, it is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses a day to reduce the risk of stone forming.

Keeping yourself hydrated is another great reason to make sure that you are drinking enough water. Even a small amount of dehydration in the body can make you more susceptible to viruses. Water is not only good for hydrating and kidney stones, it’s also good for many other health issues as well. For example, drinking an acceptable amount of water daily can help prevent urinary tract infections in both women and men; it can also help those with immune deficiencies recover quicker and can even help with the allergy season.

Drinking water is something that is certainly up to the person that is drinking it. Many people do not like to drink water and others will just drink water alone many times. If you are one of those who does not like drinking water at all, here are some tips that will help.

  • Try adding your favorite fruit freshener such as lime, cherry, watermelon, etc.
  • Try drinking green tea without sweetener. This is a great way to get your water down without the bland taste. Plus green tea is full of awesome antioxidants to help you get rid of free radicals in your body that can harm you.
  • Drink cold water instead of warm water. You will find that it is not only more refreshing but it tastes a lot better too.
  • If you find yourself drinking too little during the day and know that you should drink a lot more, set a timer. A timer can help your to establish a water drinking routine, which might sound ridiculous but can be very helpful.

When it comes to keeping yourself hydrated, don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink some water. If you wait until you feel thirsty then you are already dehydrated.
